Our 2nd Passive House Certification

The PHI are an international body who carry out research and development of high efficiency energy systems and products for Passive Housing.

EcoClad+ Certification

EcoClad+ Window Certification

We are delighted to have achieved our second Passive House listing Passive House is the worlds leading standard for energy efficient construction achieving as a norm an energy consumption reduction of 80% on that provided by compliance with national Building Regulations. Passive Housing requires high quality components including super insulating window frames. The PHI certify products as Passive House suitable so that specifiers can consult their lists rather than trying to assess the energy efficiency and specific values of a product.

The Munster Joinery EcoClad+ window uses the structural strength and durability of aluminium with the warmth of a natural finish wooden interior. Thermally efficient insulation combined with technically excellent glazing means this window easily meets the exacting thermal criteria of the Passive House standard (Uw< 0.8W/m²K). The window is manufactured under controlled conditions to provide excellent airtightness.

Munster Joinery is now among the largest manufacturers of energy efficient windows and doors in Europe.

Founded in 1973, the company has grown year on year, with the continuous development of new products, materials and processes. Munster Joinery now operates in Ireland, Northern Ireland and the UK with a 910,000 sq ft production facility on a sixty five acre site in Ballydesmond Co. Cork and a 230,000sq ft manufacturing unit on a twenty acre site at Wellesbourne in the UK. The company employs 1600 people.

We are conscious of the need to manage our natural resources effectively and reduce our Carbon footprint. Our production facility in Ballydesmond gets much of its day to day power needs from two wind turbines on site with an electrical output of 4.2MW. A biomass steam turbine provides an elecrtrical output of 2.8MW. These installations achieve a carbon saving of more than 9,000 tonnes annually.
